Kunai is a San Francisco Bay Area–based, agile software consultancy founded in 2015, now part of the PwC US network as of mid-2025 Consulting. With headquarters in San Ramon, California, Kunai employs between 200 and 500 professionals offering deep expertise in financial services and fintech.
I was paired up to work with Kunai through the magnificent A.team Network. Kunai was looking for a designer that could revitalize and update their brand presence, thinking outside the template and bringing something fresh and unexpected to the table. I was thrilled to work with a highly capable team of numerous project managers, developers, and the CEO to lean and bring to the surface the unrealized potential that was already baked into the Kunai brand. When I was initially approached, I understood that even the logo was open to maybe changing — but I was able to quickly realize the symbolism of their brand logo was already golden — we just needed to let it have some fun and bring it into motion. Kunai's brand represents the intersection of Intution and Intelligence with timeless iconic geometry in it's logo. I brought my skills in illustration, design, and motion graphics together to bring the Kunai brand to life across their website and additional brand collateral. The team was thrilled to have a new look they were all excited about.
The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.
A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!
Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.
I was brought in to lead the design with art direction for a comprehensive and cohesive website design for desktop and mobile, using Figma. I also brought my animation skills to the table with After Effects and other animation solutions.
Kunai needed to bring new life to their brand, as their website communications were not properly reflecting who they were. They needed a new look for their sharpening vision and innovation — especially with the age of AI coming on so fast.
To revitalize Kunai's digital presence and align it with their forward-thinking ethos, I delivered a comprehensive design system and UI/UX foundation grounded in clarity, motion, and brand narrative.
I refreshed Kunai’s visual language with a modern, dynamic color palette and clean typography that reflect both agility and technical precision. The geometric logo was celebrated and animated to reflect the brand’s interplay of intuition and intelligence—balanced by a sophisticated sense of motion for the digital era.
Using After Effects, I animated the logo—transforming static geometry into a fluid mark that subtly pulses or rotates. These animations were adapted for the web using Lottie or exported as SVG animations to maintain performance and scalability.
I ensured responsive design across all breakpoints—mobile, tablet, and desktop—by using Figma’s auto-layout and testing flows in interactive prototypes. Accessibility considerations included high-contrast text, clear visual hierarchy, and optimized legibility across devices.
Working with A.Team's project management framework, I maintained an iterative process: presenting design rounds to the PM, CEO, and developers; gathering feedback; and refining accordingly. Prototypes enabled early alignment, and handoff assets (style guides, motion specs) were shared via Figma for smooth development integration.
The updated site reflects Kunai’s identity—with movement, clarity, and technical polish—positioning them for growth in AI-driven fintech. Stakeholders responded positively to the energized brand expression, and we laid foundations for a scalable design system. You can review the finished project at Kunaico.com
